8. Ten years ago, this department's mission statement was just two short but cogent sentences. Since then, successive managers, eager to place their imprint, have needlessly lengthened it and made it wordy. As the new person in charge, I want to eliminate some of the . . . . . within that statement and, once again, make it short and focused.
