• The moment it was announced that U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker had overturned the California ban on same-sex marriage, gay rights activists who had gathered outside the courthouse instantly broke into exultation. Of course, their battle is far from over since this issue is ultimately going to end up before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Workplace Examples

• The odds were stacked heavily against Connie getting an "okay" on her scheme. All the other managers in the company discouraged her from sending her proposal up the chain. So, when Connie got the board's approval after her eight months of hard work and intense lobbying, you can imagine how exultant she must have felt.
• Darla is no fun to work for. Constant stress. It's like being in a pressure cooker! Everyone here is pretty much exulting in the news about her transfer to the Brazil office.
