Definition

from the verb embitter.

EMBITTER = 1. to make bitter. 2. arouse bitter feelings in; cause to feel resentful or gloomy.

  • Several of the victims' relatives were deeply disappointed when Washington D.C. area sniper Lee Boyd Malvo did not receive the death penalty. Said the embittered brother of one of the victims: "Even now we go through the pain and suffering every day. I'm not at all happy about this whole thing."

  • Are you surprised at Steve's indifference? Well, you shouldn't be. Imagine how he must be feeling, having to now report to his former subordinate? He must be one deeply embittered guy!
